Let’s Draw!
Step 1: Start with a large rounded square shape with soft corners for the head, ensuring that the curves are gentle to achieve a friendly appearance. Next, add two triangular ears on the top corners, positioning them slightly outward to create a more animated look.

Step 2: Draw smooth, symmetrical curves for the left and right cheeks to create harmony, ensuring that both sides mirror each other in shape and proportion. Carefully consider the natural contours of the face, allowing the curves to flow gracefully from the forehead down to the chin. Take your time refining these curves, as they set the foundation for the rest of your work, helping to establish a sense of unity and coherence in your design.

Step 3: Draw two large circular eyes on either side of the vertical line. Add smaller black circles inside the eyes for pupils and tiny white dots for highlights. Place a small oval nose at the center. Under the nose, draw a small “W” shape to make a cute smiling mouth.

Step 4: Draw three short lines on each cheek for whiskers, ensuring they are evenly spaced to give a symmetrical look. Add small curved lines above each eye for eyebrows, which will help convey emotion and expression in your drawing. These eyebrows can be arched or angled, depending on the character’s mood you wish to depict. Don’t forget to add curved lines for additional ear details, which can include inner ear shapes to provide a more lifelike appearance.

Step 5: From below the head, draw a vertical line curving out slightly for the body, ensuring that the curve adds a gentle and realistic shape. This line should extend downward, giving the impression of a sturdy torso that supports the character’s structure. As you move to the lower part of the body, make a short, stubby front leg on one side, complete with tiny toes at the bottom, emphasizing a playful, cartoonish style.

Step 6: Next, draw another vertical line curving out slightly for the second front leg of the British Shorthair cat. This line should gracefully extend downward, mimicking the natural stance of the cat as it prepares to spring into action. Don’t forget to add small curves for the paws, emphasizing the rounded, plush appearance that is characteristic of this breed. Pay close attention to the proportions to ensure that the leg appears sturdy yet agile, capturing the essence of the British Shorthair’s strong build and playful demeanor.

Step 7: Lastly, on the left side, draw a smooth, curved shape that gracefully emerges and then retreats back in, carefully crafting the back leg, which should end in distinct little toes that give the foot a playful appearance. Take your time to ensure that each toe is proportionate and adds character to the leg. Then, proceed to draw a long, elegantly curved tail extending from the back of the body. This tail should loop upward in a dynamic, fluid motion, ultimately finishing with a fluffy end that adds a whimsical touch, reminiscent of a gentle wave in the breeze. Make sure to give the tail some nice thickness and texture to emphasize its fluffiness, creating a stunning overall silhouette. Happy Drawing!
