Let’s Draw a Cute Corgi Dog

“Corgis remind us that sometimes, the biggest hearts come in the smallest packages.”

Step By Step Tutorial

This tutorial offers a simple, step-by-step guide to drawing an adorable Corgi, beginning with an oval shape and leading through clear, enjoyable steps. Perfect for aspiring artists looking to enhance their skills! 🐶

Don’t forget to prepare your materials. Please see my post on how to use the Grid Line Method here. By the way we have prepared a free downloadable Grid Lined Paper that you can use, click the link to download a copy. Please note that these free downloads are intended for personal use only.💖

You may print it on an A4 sized paper or if you want to draw on a smaller scale, you may print 2 copies on one A4 sized paper.

Let’s Draw!

Step 1: First, draw two curve lines for the ears, ensuring they are symmetrical and positioned evenly on each side of the head. These curves should start from the top of the head and gently arc downward, resembling the soft contours of human ears. Pay attention to the width of each curve; they should not be too thick or too thin, but just right to capture the essence of the ear’s shape. This will set a solid foundation for the rest of your drawing, contributing to a more lifelike representation.

Step 2: Draw the curves of the head one grid at time. Start your grid from the top of the head. Then work your way to the left side of the face. Followed by the right side of the head.

Step 3: Draw the cheeks of the Corgi dog, making sure to capture the furry bits that give them their adorable and fluffy appearance. Pay attention to the unique shape and texture of the cheeks, as they often have a rounded fullness that enhances the overall cuteness of the breed. Consider adding a few fine lines to suggest the fur’s softness and layering, ensuring that the drawing reflects the Corgi’s cheerful expression and playful personality. This attention to detail will bring your artwork to life, making the Corgi truly stand out on the page.

Step 4: Place the two rounded eyes but leave the white circles. These white circles are the glares of the eyes that give the image its cute factor. Not to worry, if you are having a hard time leaving out white circles, you can use white Sharpie or Posca acryllic paint markers. Just dab dots on the eyes and voila! You just made cutesy eyes.

Step 5: Draw the oval nose. Underneath, draw a rounded W for the lips and draw another but a little bigger U below. We are using a lot of U shapes here and look, we are done with the head. Great job so far!

Step 6: Draw more U shape leaning left and another leaning right and these will be the front legs. Connect the two legs with a curve line as its tummy.
